Character Name: Fin E Ld Si Laffinty, Lan for short
Source Canon: Rinne no Lagrange
Community Tag: lan
Notes: I am never going to refer to Lan with her full name. You can probably guess why.
Background: Thousands of years ago, an advanced civilization of humans left planet Earth just before a great cataclysm struck, and created many nations on other worlds. La Garite is one of these nations - and Laffinty is its princess. She lived a pampered life along her dearest brother Dizelmine, despite their planet being in war with another country, De Metrio. A war that would last for many years.
Not too long ago, La Garite established contact with the Earth organisation of Novumundus. This is because Novumundus came into possession of the three Vox units, which are believed to be the key to ending the war in La Garite's favor. However, the same units are also feared due to the legendary cataclysm being caused just by them. Regardless, Dizelmine sent his scientist Moid to Novumundus, as well as Lan herself - as one of the three, Vox Lympha, chose her as its pilot.
At the start of Rinne no Lagrange plot in UG@, Lan already contacted Madoka, persuaded her to pilot Vox Aura and even became her friend. The preparations for La Garite's pickup of the Vox machines are complete, all that has to happen now is for their fleet to arrive before any of their enemies do...
Personality: At a first glance, Lan looks like your model Rei clone, emotionless and professional. However soon enough it becomes all too apparent that the first impression is wrong.
Laffinty is a very emotionally vulnerable girl. She is self-conscious about her shortcomings (of which there are many), and easy to scare or disturb - especially as far as the legendary demons of old are concerned, one of which she just happens to be a pilot of. However, the other side of the situation is that she is a kind and caring person, eager to help and very loyal towards her friends, as few as she may have. Initially very suspicious and jealous of Muginami, Lan becomes more accepting of her in time - although the relationship between the two is never as good as between any of them and Madoka.
Still, she is not very open about her feelings, but this is mostly because of shyness as well not being comfortable in the situation she finds herself in: having spent most of her life as a princess, the commoner environment of Earth is something alien and strange to her. This results in social awkwardness and some strange behaviors, most prominently believing that "wan" (complete with a paw-like hand gesture) is a standard greeting or confirmation used on Earth.
Laffinty is fascinated with marine life, especially killer whales which seem to be her favorite animal. Amusing, considering she cannot even swim herself. As a matter of fact, she is quite clumsy and often bumps into things and people or trips over something. Being pampered loyalty makes you ill-prepared for physical activity of normal life, it seems. Not that it does not stop her, the effects just tend to... vary as a result.
Her relationship with her brother is an interesting one - she respects Dizelmine a lot and even cries out for his protection when distressed, but obviously something happened that spoiled their former, idyllic brother-sister friendship. She realizes how dangerous and intimidating he can be. Likewise, Lan knows that digging up ancient demons of past for La Garite's use may not be the smartest idea, but despite her fears she remains loyal to her country and mission entrusted upon her.
Capabilities and Resources: Being a princess of La Garite has surprisingly few benefits, considering this status is unknown by most people, the planet is far away, and the only other person from the same country (Moid) seems to act on an agenda of his own. However, being the chosen of Vox Lympha means that Lan is the only person who can pilot the machine. It will not even start unless she is in the cockpit.
(*REQUIRED* if you have a robot)
Robot Name: Vox Lympha "Orca"
Robot Description: Vox Lympha is a transformable super robot, about 17 meters tall. Its abilities are very similar to that of the other two Vox Units: its best selling points being very good durability and speed, the latter especially in fighter-like Piercer Mode. Also, it can disperse subspace energy, which mostly means that subspace shields utilised by some of enemy Ovids can be easily penetrated by its attacks.
In Piercer Mode, Vox Lympha can move so fast it creates a deadly afterimage that damages anything standing on its path, and use its tip to charge at and pierce into its targets. In its humanoid Warrior Mode, however, Lympha is initially armed only with an experimental beam machinegun - it is enough to take down mook Ovids in just a shot or two, but lacks stopping power for bigger targets.
As a side note, all Vox units can be remotely controlled if they are in Piercer Mode, but that option can be disabled by the pilot from the inside of their cockpits.
Terrain Stats:
Land: A
Air: A
Sea: B
Space: A
Piercer Mode:
Land: C
Air: S
Sea: B
Space: A
Upgrades: Vox Lympha later becomes equipped with a beam shield (it works like a barrier, being able to extend itself to block attacks that strike a wider area), and an improved beam gun. The new rifle can fire in single-fire and burst modes, as well as cover a large area in blast and explosions, destroying or damaging everything that does not get out of way in time.
